About this recipe
This smoothie was truly life changing for me. I started drinking it every morning about six years ago and never stopped since, because the benefits are so overwhelming. It went through many changes before evolving into the recipe below, which I think is the best version. It is cleansing, detoxifying and is full of vitamins, proteins from the greens and other nutrients. At the same time it is easy for your body to digest since it does not contain any seeds, nuts or heavy protein powders, hence keeping your energy levels higher. You can easily adjust the sweetness by adding more or less stevia. Feel free to experiment with it and find your own version that you love.
Ingredients:
2 cups filtered water
1 Tbsp. raw apple cider vinegar (I use Bragg USDA Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, with The Mother)
1 stick celery, chopped
¼ green apple, chopped
2 large romaine lettuce leaves
3-4 large curly kale leaves
2 handfuls of spinach
1 handful of arugula (optional)
1 small handful of sprouts (optional)
2-3 sprigs of cilantro or parsley
1 ripe banana
4 thin slices of ginger root
3 thin slices of turmeric root or 1/4 tsp. of turmeric powder (I use Organic Turmeric Root Powder (2lb) by Anthony's, Curcumin & Non-GMO (32 ounces))
Pinch of black pepper
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. bee pollen (optional) (I use Stakich BEE POLLEN GRANULES 1 lb (16 oz) - 100% Pure, Natural)
5 drops of liquid stevia or to taste (I use NOW Foods BetterStevia Liquid)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the ingredients.
2. Tear the romaine lettuce and kale leaves into pieces and wash well along with spinach and cilantro or parsley.
3. Place in a blender with the rest of the ingredients and bled very well (texture should be smooth).
4. Chill well and serve.
